I have worked in Africa for Vision Aid Overseas (Kenya and Malawi) in 1990 and 1992; testing sight, handing out sorted spectacles to patients who need them, referring them to eye doctors when necessary and helping to train local ophthalmic technicians.  It was very rewarding to renew someone's life chances simply by giving them an appropriate pair of spectacles, something we take for granted in the UK. I have always treasured the experience and know the charity is continuing its fantastic work in many parts of Africa.

Optometry giving Sight helps to support these charities all over the World by training local eye care professionals, establishing sustainable vision centres  and delivering eye care in the countryside, as well as towns, and most importantly low cost glasses. Sight can make the difference between a life of poverty and a life of opportunity.  

I hope you feel able to donate something towards this as I am going to give it my all in Yorkshire and it's terrible - sorry, beautiful hills! Couldn't miss out on the once in a lifetime opportunity of cycling the Tour de France route, and it's been a great incentive for trimming down the weight. Photos will follow soon, folks.
