Trek to Machu Picchu · 4 June 2010

St Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity offering free, expert care for adults with an illness that cannot be cured, and support for their loved ones and carers. Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,000 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

Story

STOP PRESS **

I am delighted to have reached the £3,000 target I set myself. However, please don't stop giving! Every penny raised will support St Richard's Hospice who provide free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,100 patients and family members in Worcestershire. In the In-patient Unit specialist staff are on hand 24 hours a day to manage patients’ symptoms and where, if they so choose, patients may spend the last few days of life in comfort and dignity. St Richard’s is grateful for all donations towards the £5m they need to raise this year to continue their work.

*************************

I am more fortunate than some and have good health. To celebrate that and to test my fitness I am going on a self funded, fundraising trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. I aim to raise £3000 for St Richard's Hospice.

Officially graded as a tough challenge , trekking up to 4,500m, I am currently training hard walking on the Malvern Hills.

I will be camping for 3 nights with no facilities - a challenge in itself!
