I'm Sam, as I write this I am currently serving a tour of Afghanistan with 4th Battalion The Rifles, my older brother Craig, is in the Royal Signals and has served tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Matlock Boxing Day Raft Race it a popular event every year in which participants travel from Matlock to Cromwell in homemade rafts, boats and anything that vaguely floats. It is custom spectators the race to throw eggs and bags of flour at the participants.
We decided to do the Matlock Raft Race purely for a bit of fun over the holidays, and since were going to get cold, wet and covered in eggs and flour, we might as well raise money for a brilliant cause.
Help for Heroes is a charity close to all soldiers hearts, as it helps support wounded and traumatised soldiers through recovery process and supports the families through the difficult time.
I have set the goal of £1000 but i would be happy with anything, all donations both large and small will be equally valued.
