On the 01st May 2011 the finest gentleman I have ever known passed away, this gentleman was my Grandad Ken.

Unfortunately during the latter years of my Grandads life he suffered from Parkinson's disease. People with Parkinson's don't have enough of a chemical called Dopamine because some nerve cells in their brain have died. Without Dopamine people can find that their movements become slower so it takes longer to do things.

There is currently no cure for Parkinson's disease and we don't yet know why people get the disease.

It will come as no surprise that the charity I am cycling for is Parkinson's UK. Parkinson's UK fund research in an attempt to find the causes and hopefully a cure for this disease so that in the future people will not have to suffer like my Grandad Ken had to from this disease.
