At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

As some of you may know, I decided to challenge myself to raise some money for charity. But I didn't pick just any challenge, oh no. A grueling 12 mile multi-terrain race with massive hills, rivers, tracks and mud in the Wiltshire countryside. That should do it...................I give to you- The Terminator.

http://www.pewseyvalerunningclub.org/races_theterminator.aspx

So I needed a challenge difficult enough to be worthy of plenty of sponsorship, this seemed fitting and I hope you think so too. (Did I mention the grueling part?!)

The donations you offer in support of me (*most likely*) dragging myself around this race are going to CLIC Sargent.

The importance of the work that CLIC Sargent do is unfathomable. They provide support not only for children and young people with cancer, but also for their families. This is a huge undertaking so every penny really does make a difference. One aspect of CLIC Sargent's work that holds a very special importance for me.

Paul's house is a "home-from-home" in central London which allows children and young people with cancer, who are undergoing treatment, to live with their families. They provided a comfortable place to live and a great deal of support to my family when someone close to me was receiving treatment for cancer. The provision of accommodation, cooking facilities and social areas in Paul's House made this very tough time a lot less stressful. The help CLIC Sargent provided just to my family was so vast and with 10 families in the UK being told each day that their child has cancer, the scope of their support is massive. I hope that by doing this fundraiser we can help them continue their amazing work.

So if I haven't convinced you already of how worthy CLIC Sargent is of your hard-earned money, see the link below for some more information on Paul's House.

http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/Getinvolved/Home

Please dig deep and donate all you can; I will appreciate it but I know that CLIC Sargent will appreciate it more.

Thanks for all your support,

Sam

*UPDATE 20.02.2012*

Yesterday I completed the Drover's Revenge- an 8 mile version of the Terminator- as a warm up for next weekends event. Got pretty muddy and wet, photos will follow.

Thanks go to all those who have donated already, please keep them coming.
