Story

Since I've been in London for 6 years and the time has come for me to qualify for that little British red book, I thought 2012 seemed like the perfect year to finally do a little trot around this city and take part in one of the UKs largest events.. the London Marathon!!

However, I wanted to make sure I took a little piece of Africa around with me... and what more topical at the moment than the Rhino... one of Africa's amazing Big 5.. hopefully to remain for a very long time!

I don't know how many of you know, but the Rhino is on the verge of extinction due to the increasing rate of Rhino poaching throughout the world at the moment, but especially in Africa. In 2011 alone 488 rhino were killed in South Africa - that's more than 1 a day! That might not sound like too many to some of you, but when there are only 1,900 Black Rhino left in the world.. it all seems pretty scary!

Rhino Horn, thought by the eastern world to serve medicinal purposes, but proven by both the western and eastern worlds to add zero value, is currently worth more than gold - making it the most valuable illegal substance ever.

There are only 7 weeks left before the London Marathon, and my training has taken a turn because of my own broken bone over the past 5 weeks, but I know that no matter how unfit I am, the contribution I can make to help stop the Rhino from disappearing from our planet will make it worth it.

I've uploaded a couple of videos which will really put this problem into perspective...

So, I know a lot of people ask for donations, and there are lots of charities out there, but I really hope some of you will support me and one of the most beautiful creatures we've still got a chance of keeping on our lands!

Thank you all so much... the sooner we can save the rhino, the better! And let's hope I make it around London in one piece!! :-)
