Story

Hi all

On the 9th May I will be facing my fears and throwing myself out of a moving plane at over 13,000 feet in order to raise money for Amos trust and The Street Child World Cup.

You may have already heard of the Street Child World Cup due to its coverage on Blue Peter and in The Sun Newspaper. But for those who haven’t The Street Child World Cup is an ongoing campaign putting street children at the forefront of global events, making their voices heard. The inaugeral Deloitte Street Child World Cup championship took place in Durban, South Africa in March 2010 and saw children from eight different countries gather to use the universal languages of football and art to push for their right to shelter, protection from violence, and access to health care and education. (You can also visit the Street Child World Cup website - http://streetchildworldcup.org/ for more information)

The event was a huge success and the conference which ran alongside it came up with a series of recommendations for governments, and the project team will now be pushing forward with these. There is also considerable work to be done to help the kids come back down to earth safely. Fundraising is still essential to support this and build on this success and to support plans for a repeat alongside the next world cup.

As you can see this is an extremely worthwhile cause and anything you can give would be hugely appreciated. Also as it is my birthday on the 12th May it would be wonderful if you could make a donation as a birthday present in the hope I survive this experience and make it to the age of 19!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks very much and I wish you all the best,

Sam
