Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

A stroke is a sudden brain attack that has immediate effect and can damage the mind and body. Recovery generally takes a very long time. About one third of people make a significant recovery within a month, but most stroke survivors struggle with long-term problems.

Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. That's one person every five minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies.

I know from experience the profound and lasting effect a stroke can have on victims and their families. The Stroke Association provides practical, emotional and financial support for survivors and their loved ones. They are also at the forefront of research on stroke prevention and recovery.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
