Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In August 2013 I will be trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro. Anyone who knows me laughed when I first suggested this as a possibility because this is so far out of my comfort zone it wasnt even in my atlas!

This is going to be a massive challenge for me. 2.5 stone overweight and an exercise regime that pretty much consists of walking from the house to the car and the car to the office door and back again several hours later. I DONT DO EXERCISE. I DONT DO EARLY MORNINGS. I DONT DO CAMPING AND I DONT DO ANY DAY THAT DOESNT START WITH A SLOW WAKE UP AND A MUG OF COFFEE! As I say - this is going to be a challenge. If you want to see how I am getting on check out my blog which is updated regularly.

So if Im going to do this then I might as well do it for something that means enough to me. Thats where Greyhound Gap comes in. This is a local charity which helps abandoned and abused dogs all over the country. Volunteers spend an inordinate amount of their time to ensure the safety and welbeing of many gorgeous animals that would otherwise be put to sleep or be living in shall we say less than idea conditions. If you would like to know more about their work then take a look at their web site www.greyhoundgap.org.uk

So the plan is that we raise at least £5000 for them to help continue their good work and to help them achieve their goal of having their own kennels. This would be a massive help in housing dogs that need assessment and training before they can be put into a home environment. Anyone who has had experience of greyhounds know how incredibly loving they are and they all deserve a warm, safe home of their own.
