Story

Hello Everyone,

First step complete...you made it to my JustGiving page!

As you all know I have taken on the gruelling challenge of running the London Marathon in aid of Capital FM's Help a London Child, a truly wonderful charity that help disadvantaged children across the capital.

Every penny counts and can make a huge diffrence to the 1 in 3 children in London who currently live in poverty (a sad but true fact). So please donate to this amazing cause and remember I am doing the hard part.....donating is relatively painless!

Running Diary:

Sunday 18th April - After recovering from a cold I managed to complete my last run, a gentle 10km in the sunshine. I will now be resting until next weekend.........phew.

Sunday 4th April - LAST LONG RUN. Decided to get in the spirit of things and run the first few miles of the Marathon route so started out in Greenwich park (Hubby drove me there and dropped me off in the rain ready for my 19 mile trek home). It was actually not as bad as I thought it would be, weather was changeable, rain, drizzle, sun, cloud (a true April's day). A friend met me for the last 5km which was great motivation. All in all it was an excellent run and I was so pleased to have banked the miles.

Saturday 27th March - Another 30km run, did the same route as the previous week. Set out at 6am and was nice to have my weekend running out of the way by 9:15am! Was tough going but the end is in sight....

Sunday 21st March - The target was 30km in 3hours, I did two 15km laps, went out a little fast on the first lap and really felt it on the last 10km. Louise (my sis) joined me for the second lap to keep me motivated, we worked hard and managed a sprint finish for the last few hundred meters....ended up running around 29km in 2:55 so a better pace than last week....

Sunday 14th March - Legs are suffering a little this week, managed 27km in 2:50. My sister kept me company the whole way which was lucky as the change in temperature made the run a lot more tricky...those few degrees made a huge difference and I even managed to get my first tan lines!

Sunday 7th March - Yay spring has finally arrived!!! Ran 25km around Greenhithe and Dartford on Sunday, weather was glorious (albeit a little windy), I was pleased with my time of 2hrs 40mins, although I can honestly say this was the first run I completed and felt emotionally drained after...my legs are still aching two days on. I really need to stop including so many hills on these routes!!!

Friday 5th March - 5km time trial - managed to knock 2mins off of my 5km, now down to 26mins!!!

Week Ending Sunday 28th Feb 2010 - A hard training week, leg were really tired after the half-marathon. Managed 10km on wednesday and another 10km on Saturday. I had hoped with the arrival of Spring the run on Sunday would have been better...how I was wrong! A very cold, wet and windy day pounding the streets of Greenhithe and Dartford...the hills of London Road have never looked so intimidating...

Week Ending Sunday 21st Feb 2010 -  I completed the Brighton Half Marathon in an impressive 2:04, the conditions were horrific; rain, wind and sleet the entire run but I felt great getting round without stopping and most importantly in one piece (I actually thought I would get blow away and swept out to sea).

Thanks and hope to see you there on the 25th!
