Thank you for showing an interest in helping me raise money for Northampton Hopital Gosset Ward Special Care Baby Unit, agreement number 130
On 10th of December 2010, little Rowanna entered the world. It wasn't the best start in life, despite weighing in at 9lb 13oz, doctors and nurses had to battle to save her life. She was born not breathing and had to be resuscitated, it took ten minutes to bring her back to life and even then her oxygen levels were very low and she had to stay in an incubator on oxygen.
Within the first 24 hours of her life she developed an SVT which meant she suffered withTachycardia and a heart rate of 276 and the very real possibility of heart failure. It was a scary time but eventually with the help of Pediatric Caridiac specialists from Glenfields Hospital, her heart rate was stabilised.
Not long after this she had to have a lumber puncture as she had high infection levels in her blood and doctors suspected Meningitus, luckily the results of the lumber puncture were clear and with a 5 day course of antibiotics infection levels returned to normal.
Unfortunately following trauma she was unable to feed and had to be NG tube fed, she remained being cared for on Gosset Ward for 3 months, finally coming home in February.
Two years on Rowanna has had so many tests and received regular physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietician and consultations with pediatrician. She has been diagnosed with severe oro motor dyspraxia, hypotonia, hypermobility, hearing impairment and delayed speech and language. She also had delayed crawling and walking and was NG tube fed till she was 16 months old.
Despite her traumatic start in life she's now doing wonderfully and coming on in leaps and bounds, she is soon to start pre-school and already uses BSL sign language with some speech to communicate. She's always smiling and laughing and brings us so much joy.
Please join me in helping Gosset Ward to not only achieve all they are now but to do bigger and better things. Gosset Ward relies on charitable donations for much of their great work.
Donating through JustGiving is safe and easy. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Northampton Hospital who will pass it on to Gosset Ward and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
So please dig deep and donate now, Thank you!
