Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A quick story why Sam has decided to do something rather silly and say yes to running 26 miles by accepting a place to run for 'The Dystonia Society' in the Virgin 2012 London Marathon.

After learning last year that our son, and Jasmine and Mia's little brother Aidan had developed a rare neurological disorder having seemingly developed normally up to 12 months, feeling somewhat helpless, we decided to volunteer Sam for numerous fund raising initiatives in a bid to help children which suffer from a range of neurological disorders, by raising money into research for Dystonia.

Dystonia what? Let me explain. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder, in which muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal postures. Treatment has been limited to minimizing the symptoms of the disorder, since there is no cure available. Dystonia can be a secondary feature of another disorder (like Ataxia Telangiectasia or Cerebral Palsy) or it can be a primary disorder in its own right. It is our hope that with advances in technology and better understanding of the brain, researchers will develop a range of treatments in the near future.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Any amount of money you can donate will go a long way to bringing a smile back to the faces of many children.

Thanks so much

Sam & Esther
