Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Yes I really am going to trek in the Grand Canyon-only way down is on foot and all the provisions arrive by mule!

Having flown in a helicopter over the Grand canyon a few years ago I was totally awestruck- and finding that such a worthy charity was offering 25 places on a trek through the Grand Canyon in October 2011 I just had to sign up!

The trek will be a physical challenge and raising the £3800 will be another. I will donate the cost of the 'holiday' to Herts Air Ambulance and the remainder will be made up of donations and fund raising.

So thank you so much for your donation and check with me for fund raising events which will include a barn dance, raffle, bucket collections……..I am almost at the target fund amount- losts of fun and a really great THANK YOU to everyone who has helped. If i exceed the target it will be brilliant. The bucket collections have been amazing- the response from the general public towards the Air Ambulance is so possitive- it really is an honour to be part of the fund raising team and I get to have a really great time and an amazing experience.

Here is the itinery:

Challenge Grand Canyon

The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust

8 - 16 October 2011

Level: Challenging

The Grand Canyon is probably the USA’s best known natural attraction.  Few areas offer such awe inspiring scenery and diverse landscapes – from arid desert to lush riverside vegetation.  Most striking of all is the sheer vastness of the canyon: 277 miles long, 10 miles wide and nearly 1 mile deep. This is the chance to experience nature at its most wondrous.

DAY 1: Fly London to Las Vegas. Transfer to motel.
DAY 2: Transfer (5 hrs) to Havasupai Trailhead on the edge of the Canyon.  Descend into a labyrinth of red sandstone to Supai, the most remote village in the U.S.  Continue to our Base Camp nestled beneath towering red-rock walls and large cottonwood trees. 5-6 hrs
DAY 3: Trek to Mooney Falls and descend a steep trail to its base. Continue down the canyon to Ash Creek Canyon. 7hrs. Optional hike to Colorado River and back (extra 3 hrs).
DAY 4: Explore Carbonate Canyon and look for fossils. Hike up to the Esplanade with spectacular views of Havasu Falls from above. 7-8 hrs
DAY 5: We will set out to “conquer the canyon”. The exhilaration of reaching the rim will never be forgotten. Transfer to the South Rim for sunset. 5-6 hrs
DAY 6: Full day trekking in Grand Canyon National Park along the Bright Angel Trail.  Visit the Indian Gardens natural oasis and finish at at South Kaibab trail head. 8 hrs
DAY 7: Transfer to Las Vegas via Seligman on Route 66. Celebratory meal on the famous Las Vegas Strip
