ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

My daughter LIZ has suffered with this debilitating and little understoodition for 16 years

It was first brought on by Glandular fever after her GCSE’s. For seven years of that sixteen she was mildly affected and still able to hold down a full time job, just! However then she had many stressors affect her and was working extremely hard physically in her job as a carer, which gradually led to her health decline. By end of Jan 2004 she had to give up work and has since been extremely unwell and virtually housebound. Liz is a confident, happy girl with many passions and aspirations for her future. She loves life and just wants to be well again so she can go out and live it to the full. It’s easy to take simple things us healthy people do day to day for granted. Approx 240,000 people in the UK like Liz suffer with debilitating exhaustion, headaches, muscle pain and weakness, poor cognitive function, poor sleep…the list goes on.

So little has been done to support sufferers and many health professionals have difficulty supporting their patients, Some don't even seem to have much compassion for them. One sufferer was committed to a mental institution and one child put on the at risk register because their parents refused a particular treatment which was known to be unhelpful. Some have committed suicide as an end to their suffering!

We URGENTLY NEED MORE RESEARCH!!

ME Research UK is a charity with the principal aim of commissioning and funding scientific (biomedical) investigation into the causes, consequences and treatment of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as ME/CFS). This is a debilitating illness which affects between 120,000 and 240,000 people in the UK, but which is not well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised.

MOTHERS DAY - March 10th

10.26 miles completed!

Thank you to my husband Jeremy who was my support team and everyone who supported me. Special thanks to BRAVISSIMO NORWICH my lingerie supplier who sponsored me as a different kind of support!! I walked a wild walk along the Norfolk coast from Sheringham to Salthouse and back to Weybourne. The sea roared, the wind screamed and there were snow flurries swirling around me. A white egret accompanied me for part of the walk, flocks of lapwings performed a stunning air display and skylarks sang for me. I walked on the cliffs, across the pebbly beach and along the coastal path water meadows.
