Wimbledon Village Stables has been organising fundraising events in aid of the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign for the past 35 years. In 2009, the Annual Sponsored Ride - in which I proudly took part for the first time -  raised a total of £10,000.

We will be riding from the Stables on Wimbledon High Street all the way to  and across Richmond Park, via Robin Hood gate.

This is an eight-mile ride taking approximately three hours, during which we all hope to provoke a few chuckles as we amble through the parks in our silly outfits!

I am sure there will be many giggles and enough glasses of Port to warm our cockles along the way (and after the ride!); let us remember however that this is all for a very humble - and not so cheerful - cause.
