Completing the Berlin marathon this past September was akin to Ethan's birth -- it was an epic journey that changed me profoundly and as soon as it was over I couldn't wait to do it again.  It took 60 hours for Ethan to be born (the first 24 were easy) and it took 5:34 to run Berlin (likewise the first 4:00).  Speed has never been my thing.

And so, just as Cameron and Zoe followed on Ethan's heels, on April 25, 2010 I will be running the London marathon.  To help me go faster I am making changes in my training.  To help give the effort significance outside personal achievement, I am running in aid of the Vision charity, an organization which helps blind, visually impaired and dyslexic children. 

Please donate what you can, a little bit from a lot of people can go a long way.  As I've learned this year, a long journey is comprised of individual steps, every one is important and warrants my respect.

I will be asking for your support along the route, as well.  I am so excited to be running with a charity team in my home city and hope to see your smiling faces...

So with the support of my friends and family, a few learned professionals, books and some as-yet untapped fast-twitch muscle fiber, I am aiming for a time under five hours and raising 1,500 GBP for Vision.  It doesn't sound too hard, does it?
