Story
On the 25th of April I will be running the London Marathon for St John Ambulance. St John Ambulance is the country’s leading first aid training organisation and first aid provider, and it is also one of the largest youth movements, providing training courses and youth programmes. Their valuable work includes providing first aid at major events across the UK, from premier league football matches to music festivals and sporting events, including the London Marathon, providing first aid training, and not least emergency response. For example, in July 2005 after the London bombings, St John Ambulance remained at the three underground stations affected by the bombings for five days, 24-hours-a day, providing care, treatment and support to all the underground rescue teams and other workers.
So I’m really excited to be running for this great organisation, and am trying to raise as much as possible - this is where I’m hoping you lovely people can help. Anything you can give would be hugely appreciated by St John Ambulance and me. My goal is to raise at least £1,450.
In case you’re still not convinced, here is a little bit about what I plan to put myself through. The London Marathon is 26.2 miles/42 kilometers, or…a really really long way! I go running, but have never taken on anything on this scale before. As you will see from my photo, I’m training a little bit already and will be stepping it up before the big day, aiming to train for 14 weeks beforehand.
