Story
26.2 miles to go and a stein of beer waiting at the finish!
I am so excited to be running my first marathon in September alongside my impressive colleagues in a foreign country to benefit a great cause, Pancreatic Cancer UK. I am inspired by the 60+ Spencer Stuart runners from more than 20 countries that will be coming together as a team for this charity.
Berlin is one of the World Marathon Majors but also happens to be the flattest (phew!). Training for this run gives me the opportunity to connect with my workmates and experience New York City in new ways – the comradery that comes with sweating together really is incredible.
Pancreatic Cancer UK is such an impactful cause, working each day to overcome a terrible disease. Pancreatic cancer has the worst survival rates of any of the 21 most common cancers, with fewer than 4% of patients surviving for five years or longer following diagnosis. The disease is set to overtake breast cancer as the 4th most common cancer killer by 2030. For more information on the charity, visit their page: https://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support! This will be a fun, rewarding (and surely tiring) adventure!
Love,
Sara
