Story
We made it to the top! It was a LONG day: first with fine weather, even sunshine, then showers and rainbows followed by wind, rain and sleet as we got to the top. The decent was a bit slippery but we made it down just before dark.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, we very much appreciate your support which is enabling us to beat our target.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page initially set up by Sara but David is now joining her on this fund raising exercise so thank you for supporting us both.
We've always enjoyed a walk on the beach or a leisurely stroll to the pub but we've never been serious walkers. This year, prompted by our wish to raise money for Breast Cancer Care, we've decided it's time to change all that and go for a proper walk so, never ones to do things by halves, we've signed up to take on the challenge of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, on October 2nd. It's fifteen years since Sara lost her sister to breast cancer. Treatment and care have advanced a lot since then and in memory of Liz we want to raise funds to help continue that work. The organised return trek is just over 9 miles, the summit being 1,344m (4,406ft), and will take approximately 4.5 hours up and 3.5 hours down. To overcome Sara's vertigo problem she may have to do the last part of the walk blindfolded but she hopes not otherwise she'll miss that great view from the top!
Full details of the walk can be found at www.events.breastcancercare.org.uk
