Ten years ago, Henry, my beautiful baby boy, was diagnosed with a cleft palate.  He was thirteen months old.  It was a scary and uncertain time as he underwent surgery at the Leicester Royal Infirmary a few months later.  I turned to CLAPA for help and found that someone was always at the end of a telephone to give me information, advice and support. 

Now ten years later, I have decided to combine two of the great loves of my life - running and Brighton - to take on a huge challenge by running the Brighton marathon to raise money to support the work of CLAPA and to give something back.

On 18th April 2010, I hope to complete the 26.2 mile marathon course taking in the sights of the great city of Brighton.  Please sponsor me to kick start my fundraising campaign and give my training a boost.

The money I raise will help to raise awareness and understanding of cleft lip and palate through the provision of information to parents, doctors and midwives.  I hope that more babies born with a cleft lip or palate can be diagnosed at birth so that their families can access early help and support.  I hope that worried mums like me can continue to benefit from the kind of help and support that CLAPA was able to offer me.
