Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

HSBC to give out FREE MONEY!!!

That's right for every £ you donate HSBC will match it £ for £. So go on, what are you waiting for, make the bank pay out!!!

WHY..............

Another Crazy Adventure!!

As some of you may know, I have a bit of a weak spot when it comes to signing up to under take crazy and usually physically demanding adventures. Don't get me wrong I am by no means an elite athlete or an adrenalin junkie, and the only thing that saves me is my lack of attention to detail, meaning I arrive on day 1, blissfully unaware of the horrors that are to follow.

So on that theme, when I heard HSBC was running a trek for 100 of its employees, across the Sahara Desert, (funded entirely by the employees taking part) I thought that sounds like fun (oh and a great networking opportunity) and eagerly signed up!!

Well completely out of character, and to help me set up this page, as finally I am letting a charity or two benefit from my madness, I've checked out some of the detail. So here goes:

THE CHALLENGE

When: October 2013

Where: Somewhere in the Sahara Desert (near Morrocco)

Duration: 5 days

Distance: 100km (I thought this wasn't far, until I realised it equates to  62 miles or 12.4 miles per day, every day!!)

Terrain: Sand not the most ideal conditions for walking!!

Climate: Hot, Hot, Hot!!! (Apparently the highest ever recorded temperature in the Sahara Desert is 58'c, best hope there's not a heat wave there too!!)

THE CHARITIES

HSBC has picked the following two charities to benefit from this challenge. Below is a quick overview:

FAIRBRIDGE: (Part of Princes Trust) www.princes-trust.org.uk

- Supports young people aged 13 - 25, in 15 of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK. they work to provide the skills to help indivuduals who are dealing with homelessness, drugs abuse or a history of re-offending, to really change their lives.

WATERAID www.wateraid.org

- An international non government organisation, aiming to improve access to safe water in the worlds poorest communities. They provide skills and support to implement long term, sustainable solutions.

If your still reading this, then thank you, though I think that's probably enough detail.

Please donate to two great causes and as I said HSBC match £ for £ so your donation will have twice as much impact.

Wish me luck!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
