Cold, covered in dew and uncomfortable...I woke up to the brightness of the morning sun.

Last Saturday I spent the night in a park in north London, with nothing but a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard! It was a sponsered event to raise money for HOPE worldwide - UK which works with socially excluded people in the UK and overseas. These people include those disadvantaged by homelessness, those addcited to drugs and alcohol, ex-offenders and the refugee community. Since 1991, over 2,000 people have been assisted into long-term accomodation through our Two Step project.

Although I appreciated the expereience of sleeping rough, just to get a better understanding of what it is really like for the homeless...when I got too cold, hungry and uncomfortable - I was comforted by the thought that the next day i'd be returning to my warm house, where there is consistent food, running water and security. I cannot imaging what it'd be like without that hope!
