Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've joined a team of people, 'The Big C', who will be raising money throughout 2012 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Around 4,000 women (and 25 men) are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Scotland alone making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer for women in Scotland. 1 in 8 women in the UK will develop breast cancer at some stage in their lives. Nearly everyone will know someone that has been affected, and will therefore know the difference that charities such as Breakthrough Breast Cancer can make to the recovery and support for those affected and their families, as well as vital research into prevention.
My friend Sue was recently treated for breast cancer and is gathering troops to join her fund raising group, The Big C. Their aim is to gather 100 or so friends, family and contacts in order to raise a little (or a lot) of money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Why not find a challenge yourself and join in?
I have decided to take part in the Gold Challenge which is an organisation set up in partnership with the British Olympic Association where you take an Olympic sport and raise money for charity, see their website: http://www.goldchallenge.org/ or you can follow my progress at http://www.goldchallenge.org/gc/user/sarah.elles@gmail.com
My goal is to cycle 2012km before the Olympic opening ceremony on 27 July 2012. That is an average of 10km a day... I decided to choose cycling as it is a sport that I am not particularly comfortable with or well practiced at! If I don't keep up the daily average then I could find myself cycling down the aisle and on through my honeymoon....!
Thank you so much to everyone for your support.
