Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In 2017 and 2018 I am taking on various challenges to raise money for the incredible Memusi Foundation. Here's the current plan of action:
You can sponsor me by texting MFSG84 then a space followed by the amount, say £5, to 70070
Having spent time in Kenya I have seen first hand the amazing work that the Memusi Foundation do. I fell in love with the country of Kenya on my visit earlier this year, the beautiful countryside and the beautiful people who are full of kindness, generosity, warmth, openness and song.
The important word that resonated for me with this trip and with this charity is SUSTAINABILITY. And in this context it means education. Educating the Maasai people of its benefits and its importance, which you can see they are embracing. Children can walk over 16km each way, every single day, just to go to school. Something I find incredible and soul destroying in equal measure. That they have started to value education in such a way is both moving and humbling.
The biggest challenge to sustainability here in particular though is the Maasai culture where girls drop out of school due to financial struggles, family duties and arranged marriages. It's early days on this particular journey and the work Memusi School are doing here will be fascinating to see, with a big goal of building a girls dormitory to make sure all girls have equal opportunity for education.
With your help, the expectation is that these children, filled with a desire
for learning and self-improvement, will go on to High School and even
university. The sky is the limit and the benefit to the local community as a result almost incalculable.
I would absolutely love it if you could help me achieve my sponsorship target as every single penny of this will be going to Memusi ensuring that we can continue to build schools, pay for teachers, books and uniforms and generally help children in Kenya and Tanzania receive a valuable education. It can and does make all the difference!
