Story
Hello everyone, as it is a rather special birthday for me this year (!) I wanted to do something a bit different by supporting a very important and worthwhile cause. The charity I have chosen is the Children with Special Needs Foundation (charity number 1062151). The charity was set up in 1995 to support individuals, families and groups in their requests for special equipment, holidays and special care, and to work with teachers, social workers, doctors and other professionals who care for these children. The charity staff are all unpaid and none of the volunteers claim expenses so all of the money that is raised is put towards helping the children .
The reason why I have selected this charity above many other good causes is that I have two very dear friends, Elaine and Paul Placitielli who have a lovely little boy called James (see cute photo above!). Sadly, James suffers from severe learning difficulties, limited mobility and epilepsy. Elaine and Paul have been raising money over a period of time by organising a number of different initiatives including Paul securing a place in this year’s London Marathon (good luck Paul!) They have recently benefited from two pieces of equipment for James – a tandem wheelchair and an all terrain buggy which will allow James to get out and about more easily with the rest of the family. The money they are raising is to support the work this charity does to help families with children like James and to give them some of the benefits that James has recently received
The Just Giving site I have set up is to help Elaine and Paul raise as much money as they can for the Children with Special Needs Foundation. Rather than any presents I would really appreciate any contributions you are able to give to be made to this worthwhile cause…. Thank you so much.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the 22nd May.... for what I hope will be a brilliant evening!
Lots of love.
Sarah.
