St John Ambulance - Abseil for Surrey CFR · 25 September 2010 ·

The nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, more than 400,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes. Our volunteers provide first aid in their communities and thanks to them fewer lives will be lost needlessly. Raise money. Help save lives. Be the difference.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

St John Ambulance Community First Responders (CFR) are volunteers who work with the ambulance service in our local communities to provide a quick response to someone who is suffering from a potentially life threatening incident.  They are tasked by the ambulance service to go to patients who may be having a heart attack, difficulty in breathing or other problem and carry out initial life saving aid until the ambulance arrives.

In the last four years St John Ambulance CFRs have attended over 60 cases involving a cardiac arrest and have managed to successfully resuscitate 21 of these.  Since 2006, when in introduced responders, they have attended over 1900 patients and helped them through their suffering to recovery.

What we are raising money for?

To provide a responder with a full set of equipment costs nearly £3000, to provide responders with appropriate clothing is £100 per responder and training equipment costs us over £2000
