Aspire - Aspire Channel Swim 2011 · 4 December 2011 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Just a few months ago I could barely swim. I'd had a deep fear of water since I was a little girl - so deep a fear that I chose not ever to wash my face in water for example as the feel of splashing water would invoke feelings of drowning and instill deep panic. Not any more! Not only have I overcome a major fear; I've actually realised that I have a love of swimming; the pool is now my go-to place to relax.

And as for Aspire - it's a brilliant charity raising funds for people coming to terms with spinal cord injury. Having had a close family member recently lose their mobility, I know all too way the changes people have to make and the obstacles they have to overcome in order to adapt to their new way of life. And it doesn't come cheap.

Please help by making a donation - I don't care how small, everything helps. And it couldn't be easier. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Thank you.
