Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the UK ; there are 100 000 strokes every year which means that somebody in the UK has a stroke every five minutes.

The stroke association provides information and support for patients and families, teaching for professionals working in stroke care, supports research into stroke as well as many other important services.

As a physio working on a busy unit I see how the whole team with the patient in the centre can benefit from this work.

A particular interest of mine is in increasing activity for people following stroke, so leading by example, I'll be upping my running activity this year even in the winter to raise money for this very worthy cause.
