I am running the 2013 London Marathon for The Midlands Air Ambulance. In 2011, after my mum had a serious accident, they ensured that she reached hospital very quickly which allowed her to receive the urgent medical care that she needed. Although my family and I (especially mum!) will never forget that day it could have been a lot worse had they not responded so fast and looked after mum so well.

The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is responsible for funding and operating three Air Ambulances across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

Since 1991, the Charity has responded to more than 38,000 missions averaging 3,000 per year or nearly ten each day.

What is not widely known is that Midlands Air Ambulance receives no Government or National Lottery funding. In excess of £6 million is needed each year to keep its three Air Ambulances operational which is donated entirely by the public and local businesses.
