We work around the world to lessen the physical and emotional impact caused by climate disasters and humanitarian crises. Through direct action, accessible volunteer engagement and strong partnerships, we support communities to respond to, recover from, and build resilience against disasters.

Story

I'M GOING TO HAITI, DURING THE HURRICANE SEASON, AND I'VE JUST SPENT A FORTUNE ARMING MYSELF AGAINST CHOLERA.... why you may ask? For a very good cause. Obviously.

If you've made it to this page thank you so much for taking note of my plea for pennies. I don't really have a fundraising target as such, it's more the case that if any of you feel at all inclined to donate whatever you so desire to the fantastic cause detailed below then it would be wholly appreciated.

I'lll soon be travelling to Haiti for a month, in order to work with All Hands Volunteers, and I'll be doing anything from taking care of children, to breaking up rubble and rebuilding foundations. If any of you wish to support me in this, well, then, you're brilliant and thank you very very much. Well actually, you're not supporting me, you're helping me support this wonderful organisation, as every penny will go directly to them through justgiving.

Haiti is still in pretty dire straits; the particular town I'll be based in was 90% destroyed by the earthquake in 2010 and 30,000 people lost their lives there. If you want to find out more about how Project Leogane is helping people in this community to recover and move on, then feel free to mosey on over to their website: http://hands.org/projects/project-leogane/. That seems preferable to me slipping into a lecture on the importance of long-term relief and development work on this here little info page (I wrote a dissertation on the subject, so it could turn into a very long rant, just look at the website instead, and trust me when I tell you that this charity is carrying out thoroughly worthwhile and necessary work...)

So now I'll risk being presumptuous and thank you in advance for whatever you feel able to donate. And as a further incentive I solemnly swear to post photos of myself in work boots wielding a sledge hammer in the middle of a tropical storm. Quite a visual I know... and definitely worth at least a fiver...

Thank you thank you thank you. Sarah x
