Both my parents were diagnosed with Cancer since Christmas 2009 (Mum with curable Breast cancer, Dad with uncurable terminal Kidney cancer). Sadly my Dad lost his fight with the disease on 4th June. PLEASE NOTE, I HAVE THEREFORE POSTPONED MY TREK FOR A YEAR, SO WILL FLY OUT TO PERU ON 10TH SEPT 2011!
This is obviously a very difficult time for all of us, but I have decided that I want to do something to help. I have found that I can do a trek in Peru (to Machu Picchu) this September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support (in conjuction with Sheffield University Students Union) and help them with all the great work they do with Cancer sufferers.
The trek will be a difficult 10 days and will require me to be in excellent physical shape to endure the high altitude and continuous walking!! However I am always up for a challenge and am really looking forward to the opportunity to travel to Peru and raise money for this brilliant charity at the same time.
