Bloodwise is a charity that funds research into blood cancer. The research they fund focuses on finding cures, better tests for earlier diagnosis, and kinder treatments for those living with blood cancer.
Myelofibrosis is the particular concern for Dad - it's a rare form of bone marrow cancer affecting the production of the blood cells, where eventually the bone marrow will turn completely to scar tissue. Understanding the signs was tricky and took a while, which is why I think funding research for better tests like Bloodwise are doing is so important.
So - I was stupid and decided I was going to take on a ridiculous challenge, including my first ever marathon in March. Not just any marathon - a trail marathon, at night, in one of the darkest parts of the UK.
I'm more than a little scared about completing the marathon and keeping up the mileage, but the cause means a lot even if I don't talk about it much.
