Well, George, myself and his class are raising funds to go on a class trip to match all class trips, a rite of passage (think lord of the flies) where they will be pushed to their physical limits and learn amazing new skills, whilst undergoing an incredible adventure that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
But its going to cost money, so to ensure that the trip is accessible to all of the children in George's class, the children will each be raising money to put into the community pot.
The ride itself will be a huge challenge (I don't know many adults who could complete this ride let alone a group of inexperienced 13 & 14 year old kids), George and I will be riding from Reading to Gloucester via Bristol off-road in three days. It will be 150 miles in total (thats a bottom-aching 50 miles a day). The most any of them has done before is 10 miles so its going to take months of training and hard work to achieve this great challenge (mainly in the rain and wind this winter oh joy).
And...
The children didn't just want to raise money for their trip. They also felt strongly that they wanted to help children and their families in East Africa, who are suffering terribly due to the current drought. So we are also raising money for an amazing charity called ActionAid. You can find out more about them here www.actionaid.org.uk
