Story
I'm going back!!
As most of you know I was fortunate enough to go to Masaka in Uganda last year to visit River of Life and help out. Words can't describe what an experience it was - exciting, scary, emotional, challenging, intensely moving, brilliant. Ok, words can describe...
I was greatly affected by the work there with the street kids and orphans (and I'm not referring to my gut problems:)), and also the hospital I visited (again, not my personal visit for some TLC) and people I met. I left a bit of my heart behind.
I'm thrilled that the River of Life passion is spreading and a small team from St. Bert's church and school in Runcorn will be following in my footsteps on 1st January, having already raised a generous wedge to build St. Bert's Bog (a wash block for the boys home). The best news is I get to go with them!
I'm now trying to raise sponsorship to cover my trip over there. I'll be helping running activities for the kids, visiting the hospital and the Nazareth Orphanage as last time, and also visiting the prison. We'd like to take the kids back to the lake for a treat and taking whatever we can wedge in our suitcases for them.
If you can help out I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't lie, it's not a wholly selfless act going over there as I get so much back, but I do know that the time with the kids really encourages them and makes them feel special, while offering support to the staff who work so hard and such long hours.
All donations most gratefully appreciated :)
Thank you!!!
