Link Ethiopia is a charity I became involved in through Marnie and Maya's school, Queniborough Primary, as they have been linked with a school in Ethiopia, for which they raise funds to improve facilities and the children exchange letters. Recently Queniborough School raised money to build a toilet block for the female students, as before they had no facilities to use, which must have made it a really long day for the girls!
Yekatit 23 Elementary School in Bahir Dar, Northern Ethiopia has benefitted from the close link with Queniborough and so have the children in Queniborough. My children feel that they are helping friends, and are learning that "Africa" is a diverse and beautiful continent, with much to offer, more than the endless cycle of poverty and starvation seen on the news. I am proud to be part of the One and Other fourth Plinth project, and hope that in this time of financial constraint that you can donate a little money to help this school In Bahir Dar, and others all over Ethiopia.
