My story

I have taken part in Just Bike 2009, cycling 50km with my dad, Andy, alongside others that work in the automotive trades to raise funds for BEN - the automotive industry charity. I cycled 56k and climbed 2000' in 5hrs including 45mins for power stops, photo opportunities and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Wiltshire downs! I made it back in one piece without an injury in sight! It was a gloomy, drizzly, and very windy day but the atmosphere made up for it!

I did this to say thank you to BEN for the wonderful care they gave my great nana, Isabel, during the few weeks she was nursed at the BEN Lynwood Care Centre in Sunninghill before she sadly passed away in April aged 96 years.

I made it into the local newspaper! The Ascot Windsor & Eton Express have covered my story and I made it onto the front page! This is wonderful as I'm hoping it will raise the profile of the difficulties BEN is experiencing during the credit crunch and how important it is to give them all the support we can.      

Thanks to the fantastic donations so far...I have beaten my target!! (Not bad, considering I started with a £300 target!) Every donation, no matter how small, will help in a BIG way. My target is just a bench mark, so please don't let it put you off donating...let's see how far we can go above this target! The support I have had from people is amazing.
