Story

I've always enjoyed trying to keep fit, whether playing 5-a-side football or running - mainly 5km runs.

Just over 2 years ago I started running weekly at Upton Court parkrun Slough. With perseverance I've managed to win the annual male points competition for the last 2 years there.

In 2014, I joined local running club Datchet Dashers which has had an amazing impact on my running. A great club atmosphere and meeting many great individuals my running times have improved and I've begun running longer distances.

I'm even going to try to run my first marathon in April.

Why? Because I'm raising funds and awareness for a great charity (www.ukpha.org) which is telling the story of Sikhs in the Great War (www.empirefaithwar.com). They will produce a book, documentary film and crucially education packs for schools (in line with the national curriculum) which will tell the story of Sikhs in WW1 - a hidden part of wartime British history.

I've told my children about this history and they're excited and proud about Dad running for this brilliant cause in Brighton where injured Indian soldiers were looked after at the Pavilion and other sites.

It's a truly amazing story and I feel honoured to play my part as British Sikh trying to ensure that UKPHA are able to tell this incredible aspect of history for many years to come.

I hope you will support me - with your help they will be remembered now and for future generations. Thank you"
