Story
This September I have the opportunity to take part in an exciting and unique event. Hampton Boat Club along with the LEH Boat Club are holding a sponsored row from Radley College BC, near Oxford, back to our boathouse. This is a big weekend for my Boat Club and we hope to generate substantial funds for our nominated charity, the amazing Shooting Star Chase, Children’s Hospice Care. A local charity, Shooting Star does incredible work for children with life limiting conditions. You can find out more about this great charity on their website: www.shootingstarchase.org.uk. We last held the sponsored row in 2015 and raised over £50,000 and hope to live up to the same standard this year! The row will start on the 22nd September and finish on the 23rd.
The 80 mile row is split into two days, with the first day starting at Radley College Boat House, Oxford ending on Saturday evening in Henley. During the first day we will be negotiating 14 locks, have lunch at Pangbourne College Boat Club, and finsh on the Henley stretch after 41.9 miles at around 7pm.
We will then regroup on Sunday morning to start our second day with only 37.5 miles and 15 Locks left to go! We will be having lunch at the Eton College Boat House, and hope to arrive back at the finishing line at around 7.30pm.
