Hi Everyone,
I have decided to do a skydive to raise money for a brilliant cause, to build a Butterfly Hospice (details below) I will be chucking myself or knowing me being pushed out of the plane on the 6th June and everyone is welcome to come and watch. I have to raise at least £400! I have put £75 down myself and would be sooo grateful if you could all help me acheive the £400 mark. It is a brilliant Charity and as Tesco say every little helps!!
Thank you sooo much xxxxxx
The Butterfly Hospice Trust a local South Lincolnshire community charity aims to provide in- patient hospice beds and services to care for those living with life limiting illnesses in the towns, villages and rural areas stretching from Skegness in the east across to Spalding, Holbeach and Long Sutton, and to the north extending to Spilsby, Horncastle, Woodhall Spa, Coningsby and Heckington.
On the 17th February 2009 the Trustees of the Butterfly Hospice Trust under new leadership announced that the decision had been made to start building the first phase of the hospice. Work has now begun in earnest on the site behind Pilgrim Hospital in Boston. This first phase includes completion of a number of in-patient rooms and service areas.
On completion of the first phase the Butterfly Hospice Trust will provide Support Services while raising further funds to start a full in-patient service and ensuring that sufficient income is available to provide a sustainable in-patient facility.
Hospices care for the physical and spiritual welfare of patients and their families from the day they are diagnosed as having a life limiting illness.
Hospices are about "life" and aim to make that life as comfortable, pain free and dignified as possible for patients.
In many instances a patient will stay for five or six days in a hospice for pain/symptom management and control and will then return home to spend further invaluable time with family. This complete break also gives the family/carer time to renew their own energy.
Currently there is an in-patient hospice in Lincoln and one in Grimsby. Although desperately needed there is NO easily accessible in- patient hospice for those in need in the south eastern part of the county.
NHS Lincolnshire has recently identified that there is a shortage of twenty two hospice beds throughout Lincolnshire. We now wait to see if NHS Lincolnshire who have funds for hospice and palliative care services will chose to award some of that funding for hospice beds to the Butterfly Hospice.
Whatever the decision of NHS Lincolnshire the continued support of local people is crucial to providing the people of South East Lincolnshire with their own hospice.
