Step by Step was pioneered by my great friend Sam Matthews. Driven by the frustration of receiving little or no support from local educational authorities for her own sons, Sam took on the big boys independently. She campaigned tirelessly for a better future not only for her own sons, but other families also living a life with autism. Her campaigning and dedication to the school continues to this day.

Only this week (May 2010) has the school achieved, yet again, a level of excellence as a result of their latest Form B Inspection.

You can see where this all started at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1468891/Put-your-autistic-children-into-a-primary-school-or-well-prosecute-families-are-told.html

I'd like to make a difference. Blessed with 4 children of my own, not with autism, but they've grown up with Sam's boys...we, as a family, would like to acknowledge Sam's work - and that of her team at Step by Step.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. I'll continue to update this fundraising page with news of the school and the 16 week training schedule I plan to follow in order to complete the 2nd Brighton Marathon on 10th April 2011. In the past, I've successfully raised funds for the Perthes Association and Cancer Research UK, but this is my first marathon (26.2 miles).

Many many thanks on behalf of Step by Step.
