Liverpool to London Sponsored Walk · 27 March 2010

The HoneyRose Foundation helps people who are terminally ill (aged 40 years and above) to do something special before the end of their life. We have numerous fundraisers each year. We are the only charity in the country to help this age group in this way.

Story

Liverpool to London in 9 days, covering 200 miles, on FOOT!!!!

Starting from Huyton, Liverpool on Saturday 27th March 2010 with the aid of nothing more than a GPS watch and a Google map, Merseyside born Scott Cargill, aged 37, will be walking to his home in Chiswick, West London and is planning to arrive on Easter Sunday (4th April 2010). Scott will be covering 200 miles in 9 days, averaging 20 miles a day and will be sleeping at local hostels overnight.

Scott has decided to do the walk as part of his charity fund raising activities during his year as Master of his Masonic Lodge and is supporting The Honey Rose Foundation recently featured on Channel  4’s ‘ Secret Millionaire‘. The programme, which was seen by Scott’s wife Lesley, featured Charlie Mullins, the founder of Pimlico Plumbers. She saw it as a fantastic charity that reached out to families dealing with distressing circumstances and suggested that Scott made it his premier Charity for the year.

The Honey Rose Foundation was created by Lynn Duffy who lost 3 of her closest friends to a terminal illness and decided to set up a charity to provide a memorable day for people who are suffering from a terminal illness and to give them a special day or weekend to remember and enjoy.

Scott is used to training in gyms and running in the local Chiswick area but his new training regime will involve him getting up earlier in the week and walking into the City of London to his place of work and returning by foot at the end of his working day, which is approximately 15 miles round trip.

Scott is enthusiastic about the walk although he states “It will be the toughest thing he has done but it will be a great achievement”. Scott’s family and friends will be waiting eagerly for his return on Sunday 4th April 2010, no doubt in need of a well earned leg and foot massage.
