Leeds Cancer Centre, part of the Leeds Cares family, diagnoses and treats cancer for the people of Leeds and the Yorkshire region. It is one of the largest cancer centres in the UK and provide some of the most up-to-date treatment, care and support for people with cancer.

Story

I am running the Horsforth 10k on Sunday 27th September, I am running to raise funds for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

They aim to raise raise £10 million by 2010 to make this facility in Leeds a world class force in the fight against cancer. The research that brought about many of today's new and successful cancer treatments started over ten years ago. We're planning for the next ten years, aiming even higher, developing research and treatments to ensure more people survive cancer.

The Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal will fund:

  • Specialist medical and scientific equipment that keeps the very latest cutting-edge technology an accessible reality.
  • Patient 'Home From Home' comforts.
  • Environmental and arts projects that uplift, soothe and heal patients.
  • Ground breaking clinical research that will lead to new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

These funds will have a direct impact on patients who will use the centre from 2008 as well as the generations of patients who will need these specialist services in the fight against cancer for years to come.
