Normally when I get challenges from my sister-in-law it's along the lines of please fix my sink, car, or flat in no particular order. So when she asked me to join her on a mission to raise £10,000 in 2010 for The Karen Morris Memorial Trust how could I refuse? A marathon long trek along Hadrians Wall with camping overnight sounded the right challenge for me, after all I'm a fit kiwi who goes on tramps for fun right?
Wrong! Now I have been fully affiliated into the North London lifestyle since settling down here in 2004 feel like I've aged a decade! I can eat a 5 course Friday night dinner with wine without feeling bloated, have undergone 2 knee operations in as many years as I thought I could still surf and sadly learnt my painful lesson that I'm not 16 anymore and I'd love to see you convince my wife to tramp on the weekend when we're fitting in our 2 little boys around full time jobs!
The Karen Morris Memorial Trust is an amazing charity set up in the name of a great friend's sister who sadly lost her battle to Leukimia in 1998. Since then her friends and family have tirelessly fundraised in order to build homes from home for leukimia sufferers families to be close to their loved ones during treatment and difficult times. I have always supported the charity wholeheartedly by going to the parties they held - it's time now to put in the effort, dig out those old walking boots and raise some dosh myself.
So please dig deep and donate now, your support is so appreciated and will make such a difference to so many lives.
