Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Scruffy's JustGiving page.
Scruffy is a disabled dog and he, along with close pal Breda, is taking part in this years 'Southport Rotary Club Walk for Charity' with the aim of raising much needed funds for Freshfields Animal Rescue.
Scruffy lives at the rescue. He originally came there 3 years ago from an abusive owner who use to beat him. Scruffy then went to a new home but was returned for biting. Scruffy's biting doesn't appear to be typical aggression. He has a neurological problem that causes him to be wobbly and unsteady on his legs. Freshfields vets can't find anything wrong with him so it is possible that this has been caused by his violent previous owner. Freshfields believe that Scruffy bites as he is disorientated and doesn't understand attention when he is not expecting it.
When he has seen you and knows you he runs over, wagging his tail, and loves having a little fuss. He is a very sweet little dog that desperately deserves the chance of a kind, loving home. Because of his neurological problems Scruffy will need an understanding home that will give him space when he needs it and let him adjust to his new surroundings slowly. He will probably bite at some point but this is because of his disorientation, not because he is a nasty dog.
