Sean's 278km charity cycle through France · 8 June 2017

We brighten the lives of seriously ill young people by granting wishes and providing ongoing support. Our wishes are as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a fireman, meet a real-life mermaid or even the Loch Ness Monster, we work hard to make that wish come true.

Story

Starting on 7th June 2017, I am taking
part in a
278km bike ride (equivalent to 3 back
to back London to Brighton’s!) along with
11 other work colleagues, where we’ll be
cycling from
Poitiers to Bergerac in France. This is to raise money for my chosen charity Rays of Sunshine, along with 9 local hospices
and The Rockinghorse Appeal through sponsorship from our company’s
clients.
For my personal fundraising target I am looking to raise at least £350+ for Rays of Sunshine

Over the past few years the Cellular
Solutions Team have raised well over £140,000 – so with your help this event
will help take us over the £180,000 mark – with the aim of reaching £250,000
over the next few years from our cycle fundraising, which will see Cellular
Solutions Team having cycled the length of France!!

Picking a charity has been extremely tough as there are so many
fantastic charities out there. The one charity that really caught my eye was
“Rays of Sunshine” who are a charity that aim to brighten the lives of children
aged between 3-18 who are living with serious and life threatening illnesses
across the UK.

The charities aim is to make the children’s wishes come true
which I just thought was amazing, I couldn’t imagine what it must be like for
someone so young to be battling a life threatening illness and to have the
opportunity to raise money for such a fantastic cause would be an absolute honour.

One story that really stuck in my mind was the young lad
Bradley Lowery who is battling cancer, he wanted to meet his favourite football
player Jermaine Defoe (you may have seen the story) his positive attitude and
the happiness you can see it brings him when being with Defoe is overwhelming.

Rays of Sunshine aim to fulfil wishes such as Bradley’s
which I just think is incredible and how much joy it must bring a young child
in such a difficult time.
