Event: Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019, on 8 September 2019
We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Myself and 38 other willing volunteers have been recruited by Marge to help celebrate her turning

40

next year. Part of this celebration is for

40

of us to run the Great North Run 2019 and we would love to raise

£40, 000

as a team for

Alzheimer’s Research UK.

I will be doing this in memory of my Nanna Johnson. She developed Alzheimer's in 1986 and as a child, I thought that the GP could make her better. This disease daily over a 7yr period took little pieces of a wonderful woman until she was in an almost vegetative state by 1993. The money raised will help research and hopefully spare others from what we went through. My goal is to raise £1,000 and run the GNR under 2hrs.

About the charity

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.
