Right to Play 2013 Bike Ride · 11 July 2013 to 14 July 2013 ·

Right To Play protects, educates & empowers children to rise above adversity. Using the power of play we help them stay in school, withstand exploitation, prevent disease and heal from war and abuse. We enable them to make positive choices, creating better futures for themselves and their societies.

Story

I’ve got a lot of chafing coming my way and I was hoping you could help!

I’m trying to raise over £1000 for the charity Right to Play by riding 300 miles, in three days, from Amboise, France back to London, UK.  I was hoping that you might be able to help?

Now, you’d think that given that I have to ride 300 miles that I’d be a mad keen cyclist. I’m not. In fact I only got on a road bike for the first time last Saturday. So this is going to be a pretty painful seven weeks given I need to clock up some serious miles in preparation.

But as they say, “it’s all for a good cause”, and it really is.

Your money will change – and save – lives

The charity I’m supporting is called Right to Play [www.righttoplay.org.uk]. They use educational sport and play programmes for children in the developing world to overcome the effects of poverty, conflict, and disease.

Four things I can guarantee

1.I will ride 300 miles in three days - unfortunately I have to do that to get home!

2.It’s going to hurt – it’s the equivalent of running a marathon every day, for three days

3.I’ll burn over 6000 calories during each ride – twice the usual daily amount

4.Finally - I will almost definitely a) cry at some point, b) fall off my bike in an ungainly fashion, c) look ridiculous clad head to toe in lycra
