Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Steve and Ben are taking part in a "banger" car event raising money for Help for Heroes. They have known each other for over 20 years. They were both in the Royal Air Force as drivers and served on the Balloon Operations Squadron. The destination for the event is Monaco (Monte Carlo). 4 days starting on September 8th then another 3 days to get home. Leaving from Torquay via Southampton and on to the official start point at RAF Halton near Aylesbury. Travelling via James Bond film locations in Switzerland and Italy including the famous Furka Pass, the Golden Eye Dam and Lake Como. All in a 16 year old Mk3 Vauxhall Astra that cost just £250 to buy!
The car has been busy since mid April fundraising at various events. One of these was Truckfest Southwest at Shepton Mallet held over the weekend of 30th June and 1st July. Thanks to the organisers for allowing us to participate. Also thanks to David Brown of the Lawnswood guesthouse in Torquay who made a donation in return for some advertising on the car. Further thanks are due to the Vine Pub, Ower, Hampshire, where the car was parked for 5 weeks and to car parts suppliers GSF Torquay and Motormart Newton Abbot for their valued asistance towards the cars MOT.
