My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, helping raise awareness and money for Multiple Sclerosis sufferes who attend the Sutton & Croydon MS Therapy Centre.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition which affects around 100,000 people in the UK.
Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20-40, but it can affect younger and older people too.
Almost twice as many women have MS than men.
I am hoping to raise enough money so the team at the Sutton & Croydon MS Therapy Centre can replace an 11 year old standing frame for a new one. For people with Multiple Sclerosis the benefits of standing are well documented as the secondary complications which can develop by being physically impaired, may have serious implications both on the progression of the disease and on the quality of life. These include bladder infections, pressure sores, muscle atrophy or increased spasticity leading to contractures, loss of bone density, impaired respiratory function and psychological problems. There is evidence to show that a regular programme of standing in a standingframe can reduce such complications in people with MS.
Please dig as deep as you can and help make a difference to the lives of MS sufferers who atttend the Sutton & Croydon MS Therapy Centre.

SCMSTC offers a holistic approach to MS. We provide users with physiotherapy, counselling and a much needed social outlet. We need to raise in excess of £130K each year to provide our vital service. With no funding from the government nor local authorities, we depend entirely upon donations.
