Story
On 31 May I am running as part of Team B2A in the London Bupa 10,000, a 10K that follows the route of the third leg of the London Marathon through the gorgeous city of London.
As you may know, in February of this year I travelled to East Africa for an amazing event for work. As part of that trip I visited the Mukuru slums in Nairobi and a school there; I also volunteered at an orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania. Because of that experience, I decided to support Bridge2Aid in the Bupa 10K.
As part of Team B2A, I am part of a small but dedicated team of runners trying to make a difference to people’s lives in Tanzania. The funds we raise are going towards next year’s programme at Bukumbi Care Centre, a centre caring for the disabled and people affected by leprosy and their families. The programme will include an expansion to the children’s work they do there, health and medical care and food supply amongst other things. Here is what your donation will cover: £5 – pays for 2 doses of wound care medication for a resident affected by leprosy £10 – buys a uniform, exercise book and stationery for one of the primary school children Bridge2Aid sends to school £20 – pays for one visit by a Community Development worker to Bukumbi, where she is involved in many programmes to help transform lives £50 - pays for a team member to clean the dormitories for one month – People suffering from leprosy often have open sores. Without proper cleanliness in their living accommodation, vermin can pose a serious health risk while they sleep.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks for your support for this worthwhile cause! I appreciate it.
